Leslie watched him as he looked at Kelly's folder, she knew he was thinking about the folder, and it sort of disappointed her that he didn't try and wrestle it away from her. She needed a good deal of excitement since coming back part time was actually really boring.

"Departments? My own, and half of them so far are false alarms. Thinking their symptoms are something serious and its really nothing. Only thing I don't like about my floor is the amount of hypochondriacs that I get waltzing in on any given day."

She sighed heavily and sat back in the chair, going back to her file, not understanding why the treatment she prescribed wasn't working. "How is Fiona?" She asked, she liked having a first name basis with her patients, it helped them feel comfortable on her floor, especially if what they came in with was deadly.

"I don't know why her treatment isn't working, I mean, her pain level has shot up through the roof, and according to my acolyte's notes, she is deteriorating at a steady pace. I didn't give her any new potions, everything she is on, I had her on before to diminish her symptoms." She murmured, going over the notes some more. "Maybe its because of the increase in the pain potion? Maybe we need to go back and check to see any adverse reactions between the potions she is on." She continued, this time more to herself than to Chris.

"Oh wow... I spend the last six months on mat leave and I just feel like I know nothing anymore..." She rested her head in her hands and without looking up she asked Chris. "Please tell me you have been treating my patients like I do, and not like numbers." She murmured.

Chris was momentarily distracted from Kel’s mysterious ailment by Leslie bringing up hers and other patients. He nodded in agreement about

Leslie pretty much avoided his question, and Chris chose instead to address her patients first. "Fiona's doing all right," he replied. "and yes, I'm treating your patients like people. I always do." It was a common misconception that Chris chose not to deal with personal relationships with his patients or that he was too clinical. He did, in fact, care about his patients a great deal. He just knew that when it came down to analyzing things, he would be as shrewd as he needed to be. He still had a good bedside manner.

"It could be an increase in the pain potion," he said. "It might be causing something to react badly with her others. I tried looking it over, but I didn't see anything. The only thing I can think of is that there's something she's not telling us," he said. "I mean, I checked for neurological problems, and everything seems fine. I'm thinking it could be a sort of parasite that's basically draining her of any energy we try to give her back. But she maintains she hasn't been anywhere out of the country where she could have picked one up." He hated being at a loss for how to deal with patients.

"Maybe you could try getting more information out of her?"

He shrugged. The thought process had almost distracted him and had also reminded him of a patient he needed to go check on. "I've actually gotta be going," he told Leslie. "I'll see you later?"

He excused himself and headed down to his floor. The doors had opened, and he was exiting the elevator before he realized what floor he had just been on, what floor Leslie had treated Kel on.

They were in the maternity ward.

[sorry andy! had to write him out for MI and I don't think I can be on/posting again till it starts. hope that's all right!]
